Architectes en série is a video series documenting projects published in the reference manual of Québec’s association of private-practice architects. They feature interviews with architects along with their collaborators and clients that provide insights into their work and added value.
Featuring the Maison-Jardin residential transformation project, Episode 2 delves into one of the many facets of the architecture profession. Laurent McComber, founding architect of the firm L. McComber – architecture vivante, and his client explain the challenges involved in meeting the needs of a young family while preserving the heritage character of the house and the Cité-Jardin neighbourhood—and how they responded to them. This project also illustrates the added value of hiring the services of an architectural firm to optimize living spaces and rethink a building’s energy-efficiency strategy, taking advantage of a custom-tailored approach and close collaboration between client and architect.
AAPPQ partners MAPEI Canada and Peinture MF collaborated on this project.
This video is part of an online series initiated and funded by the Association des Architectes en pratique privée du Québec (@AAPPQ) in collaboration with Montréal’s Bureau du design and with support from fdp – Private Management.
Financial support was also provided through the Agreement on the Cultural Development of Montréal between the City of Montréal and the Government of Québec.
