Parcours design universel : rues commerciales [Call for Applications]
Over the past decade or so, the City of Montréal has been experimenting with different approaches to the temporary activation of its territory. These seasonal facilities serve as open-air laboratories where community space is reclaimed and we revisit our relationship with the city.
The universal accessibility of these temporary facilities is still a major challenge to be met by the project sponsors and the designers commissioned.
The concept itself deserves to be explored in order to understand all its nuances and to design planning solutions that meet the needs of all users, including those with functional limitations (e.g. visual, hearing, neuromotor, etc.).
With this in mind, we invite all design professionnals to participate in the call for applications for the “Parcours design universel : rues commerciales” project, led by Société Logique with the financial support of the City of Montréal and the Ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et de l’Énergie du Québec’s Programme de soutien à l'économie sociale (Social economy support program).
The Parcours takes place in two stages:
- A training workshop on the concept of universal accessibility (including an exploratory walk);
- A workshop to co-design concrete planning solutions.
Participation is compensated: $1,500 per firm.
Participation is recognized by the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec, the Ordre des architectes du Québec and the Ordre des urbanistes du Québec as part of mandatory continuing education. Certificates will be issued.
Deadline: September 13, 2024
