He has access to state-of-the-art equipment, but makes his cuts with a lacemaker's finesse: Jonathan Dorthe of Atelier-D has started a dialogue between artisanal tradition and new technologies. He calls his approach "contemporary craftsmanship," and has made his studio a space for creation and exploration.
Acclaimed for his "Soir d'hiver" bookmark, reproducing the verses of Québec's poet laureate, Émile Nelligan, he also makes coasters out of maple and felt, along with traditional board games, updated and embellished.
