Magtogoek Silk Scarf
"We must pull the past out of the archives!" That's what the members of design collective Les Archivistes are busy doing with their products, which reinterpret imagery and materials from a bygone era.
Taking inspiration from history to write a new story, each creation by industrial designers Caroline Cyr and Simon Devost blends seamlessly into our contemporary lives.
Their scarf from the collection dubbed Magtogoek (from the Algonquin word for the St. Lawrence River, meaning "the path that walks") forges diverse iconographic elements into a resolutely modern whole. The river is also referenced, humorously this time, in the drinking glasses and coasters in the “Saint-Laurent frappé” collection.
