As part of the “Saint-Laurent in Motion” project, the Borough of Saint-Laurent is launching a design competition to choose a team to manage the production of video projection content for the façade of Église Saint-Laurent.
In consideration of the coming celebrations of Montréal’s 375th anniversary and the 125th anniversary of the founding of Saint-Laurent, along with the implementation of several external and internal projects, the Borough of Saint-Laurent has decided to include, as a priority component of its 2012–2013 strategic planning, an innovative, structure-enhancing and unifying project titled “Saint-Laurent in Motion.”
The project aims to showcase the Borough’s heritage, cultural, sports, multicultural, natural and historic riches as well as its high-quality services. A further goal is to nurture a greater sense of shared identity among citizens of Saint-Laurent, to spark interest on the part of Montrealers and tourists, and to encourage physical activity.
During 2013, a province-wide communications campaign will promote the tourism tools that have been developed by the borough. These print, interactive and online tools will provide information on the full spectrum of Saint-Laurent attractions and activities, including the video projection that is the subject of this competition.
For the initial tourist season, the theme will have a particular focus on the history, heritage and attractions concentrated in, among other locations, Old Saint-Laurent. The video will be featured at Église Saint-Laurent from mid-June to mid-September 2013. Lasting 10 minutes, it will be screened on the church façade every evening. Presented in the borough’s historical and heritage neighbourhood, it will provide a chance to delve into Saint-Laurent’s past in addition to exploring the current mosaic of its citizens and its multicultural cachet.
The content, drawing on available photographic and filmed archives, will be provided by the borough. The budget allocated to the competition winner for design of the video projection is $15,000.
