The Quartier des spectacles Partnership invites creators to enter a competition to design and produce content for video projection on eight building façades in the Quartier des spectacles district. The video projections will take place from December 6, 2012, to February 23, 2013.
Proposed concepts must form the basis for a powerful, rich and creative idea that prompts members of the public to get out and explore the eight sites. Creators are invited to submit a concept involving a relationship and connectivity between each of the eight façades used for projection. The works must be communicative amongst themselves, generating dialogue that incites citizens and visitors to walk around in the Quartier des spectacles.
The projections should be playful and graphical, and assert the uniqueness and coherence of the district.
The projections must have some connection to the winter theme of the LIGHT THERAPY installation competition, which invites creators to submit concepts for multiple, never-before-seen urban ambiences and experiences for the general public.
Videoprojections will be projected on the following eight building façades in the Quartier des spectacles district:
- Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ)
- Centre de design de l’UQÀM
- Cégep du Vieux Montréal
- Place de la Paix (Hôtel Zéro 1)
- Place Émilie-Gamelin (Hôtel Gouverneur)
- Président-Kennedy building of UQÀM
- UQÀM Bell Tower
- Next to the Saint-Laurent métro station
The total project budget is $75,000.
