Espace Rivière: Colline anthropique
“Architecture creates cultural landscapes that shift with cultures, transforming the territory through its multiple layers of occupation. These successive layers of occupation enrich our territories, revealing a fertile and constantly evolving ground. It is these riches that inspired the look of our project Espace Rivière, colline anthropique.”

The competition jury underscores in its report that the winning team proposed a landmark building featuring a physicality and an architectural form that are unique in the city but blend in with the surroundings. It makes its mark in its urban setting while addressing the human scale by way of a large, colourful and lively square.
The jury also notes that the welcoming, versatile and bright interior spaces promote the use of the property by as many people as possible. The lobby area in particular stands out for its orange hues, its generous proportions and its playful character. The fluid and intuitive circulation, accessible terraces and framed views of the water add to the friendly experience that the new Espace Rivière offers the Rivière-des-Prairies community.
