Photo competition — Montreal, everyday design

August 15, 2012

The Centre d’histoire de Montréal, in collaboration with the Bureau du design de la Ville de Montréal, Tourisme Montréal, and Photo Service, is launching the 34th edition of the Montréal à l’œil photography competition. This year’s theme is Montreal, everyday design. Photographers and design fans, send your entries before February 15, 2013!

Montreal, everyday design

Design is integral part of the Montreal landscape. Subtle or startling, design enhances the urban environment. Manifest in both preserved heritage and contemporary creation, it is present in our streets and public spaces, inside and outside buildings, and sometimes in quite unexpected places. In our city, design is a part of our everyday lives: in architecture, landscape architecture and urban planning, not to mention graphic, industrial, interior, and fashion design.

Montreal, UNESCO City of Design

In 2006, Montreal was proud to be designated a UNESCO City of Design. This title was attributed in recognition of the city’s creative potential based on the strength of a concentrated pool of design talent. Designers shape our territory and define our everyday experience of the city.

As a way of paying tribute to the work of the city’s designers, the Centre d’histoire invites you to present your vision of outstanding design in Montreal through your photographs.
