Designers! What role should design play in the 2017–2022 cultural development policy?

February 28, 2017

The Ville de Montréal is drawing up its cultural development policy for 2017–2022, entitled Savoir conjuguer la créativité et l’expérience culturelle citoyenne à l’ère du numérique.

Take part in the process

The Bureau du design of the Ville de Montréal is inviting professionals, organizations, and partners of the design sector to take part in public consultations on this project in March and April 2017. The goal is to adopt a final version of the policy supported by the driving forces behind Montréal, Cultural Metropolis in June 2017.

Making design a priority

Since adopting the 2007–2017 Action Plan Montréal, Cultural Metropolis, the city has strived for architectural and design excellence in all projects through a general process by which the best proposals from here and abroad are selected by competition.

Please review the draft policy and share your thoughts on, for example, the design policy priorities for encouraging quality, innovation, and the next generation.

  • As a model city, stimulate design quality throughout the area by facilitating competitions, workshops and design panels.
  • As an entrepreneurial city, promote the emergence and success of the next generation through access to city commissions, mentoring, and partnerships.
  •  etc.
