The Quartier des spectacles Partnership invites creators to enter a competition to design and produce content for video projection on eight building façades in the Quartier des spectacles district. The video projections will take place from December 11, 2013, to February 2, 2014.
Proposed concepts must form the basis for a powerful, rich and creative idea that prompts members of the public to get out and explore the eight sites. The core idea in the project is individual spectators/participants. Be they Montrealers or visitors, pedestrians must feel that the work speaks to them, attracts their attention, surprises them and prompts them to stop, look and listen, no matter how harsh the winter weather.
Creators are invited to submit a concept emphasizing coherence between each of the eight façades used for projection. The projected content must be playful, graphical and festive, assert the uniqueness of the district and help highlight the diversified architectural styles of the buildings.
Videoprojections will be projected on the following eight building façades in the Quartier des spectacles district:
- Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ)
- Centre de design de l’UQÀM
- Cégep du Vieux Montréal
- Place de la Paix (Hôtel Zéro 1)
- Place Émilie-Gamelin (Hôtel Gouverneur)
- Président-Kennedy building of UQÀM
- UQÀM Bell Tower
- Next to the Saint-Laurent métro station
The total project budget is $75,000.
The competition is:
