What is a design metropolis? Why and how does a city become one?
This international symposium cast a critical eye on the policies and programs of “new design cities,” comparing and contrasting them with those of other cities recognized as international design metropolises. The goal of the symposium was to discuss different positioning and (re)development strategies based on design, as applied in such cities as Antwerp, Glasgow, Lisbon, Montréal, New York, Saint-Étienne and Stockholm.
