These prototypes result from a concept allowing different possible size configurations depending on the traffic at the stops to meet the riders' comfort and safety needs.
The bus shelter design spins off into three types: "standard", "universal" and "standard with extension". The "universal" prototype is currently located at the corner of Boulevard René-Lévesque and Rue Jeanne-Mance. The other two prototypes, "standard" and "standard with extension", will be installed respectively by the beginning of December at the corner of Rue Saint-Hubert and Rue Legendre, in Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough and at the Langelier metro station, in Mercier – Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough.
The Société de transport de Montréal is also taking the opportunity to test a totem pole with a more modern signposting system, corresponding to its new visual identity. The totem is installed near the new prototype located at the corner of Boulevard René-Lévesque and Rue Jeanne-Mance. This totem pole eventually will replace the bus stop pole.
