Commerce Design Montréal 2015 People’s Choice Contest Rules

To be won: $2,000 worth of gift cards or certificates
Closing date: August 31, 2015. No purchase required. Contest open to residents of Quebec who are 18 years of age and over. Prizes: 21 gift cards or certificates totalling $2,000 to be used toward purchases in 13 of the prize-winning businesses. The value of each gift card or certificate ranges from $50 to $250. Contest rules are available on the commercedesignmontreal.com website.

Terms of participation

There are two ways to vote for your favourite business from among the 20 “Jury Grand Prize” winners in the 2015 Commerce Design Montréal Awards and to enter the People’s Choice Award Contest:
Vote online by filling out a contest ballot on the website commercedesignmontreal.com or complete the detachable ballot included in the 2015 Commerce Design Montréal promotional flyer. The flyer is available in the 20 prize-winning businesses, as well as in several other locations in Montréal, in particular the City’s Network of Libraries and Maisons de la Culture and seven participating Accès Montréal offices (see under for a list of locations).
Limit of one electronic entry and one detachable contest ballot from the promotional flyer per person.

Where to drop off contest ballots

Contest ballots in the 2015 Commerce Design Montréal promotional flyer may be dropped off in person in the ballot boxes located in the 20 prize-winning businesses, as well as in the seven participating Accès Montréal offices (see under for the list of locations).

Contest deadline

Contest ballots must be submitted electronically or deposited in a ballot box no later than midnight, August 31, 2015.

Place, date and time of selection of winners

Winners will be chosen in a random draw on Friday, September 4, 2015, at 1 p.m. at the Bureau du design de la Ville de Montréal, 303 Notre-Dame East, 6th Floor, Montréal, QC H2Y 3Y8. Winners will be notified by telephone no later than 5 p.m., September 11, 2015, and invited to pick up their prize in person on September 14, 2015, at the official announcement of the winner of the 2015 People’s Choice Award in Montréal. Those unable to attend the event will receive their prize by mail.

Description and method of awarding prizes

Number and detailed description of the prizes offered and the value of each prize: There are 21 gift certificates or gift cards totalling $2,000 for purchases at 13 of the award- winning businesses that will be drawn from among eligible voters. The value of the prizes ranges from $50 to $250. Prizes will be distributed as follows:

  • La Maison Simons: 2 gift certificates of $100
  • Au Pain Doré: 2 gift cards of $50
  • Boulangerie Guillaume: 2 gift certificates of $50
  • Le balconier: 1 gift certificate of $250
  • Mylène B: 1 gift certificate of $250
  • Pizzeria No 900: 2 gift cards of $50
  • Impasto: 2 gift cards of $100
  • Le Rosemont: 1 gift certificate of $100
  • Manitoba: 1 gift certificate of $100
  • Bar Furco: 2 gift cards of $50
  • Kyozon: 2 gift certificates of $100
  • Mimi la Nuit: 1 gift certificate of $100
  • Mesón: 2 gift certificates of $100

Awarding of prizes: 21 gift certificates or cards will be awarded as follows:

  • 10 winners chosen at random from among the electronic entries
  • 11 winners chosen at random from among the entries deposited in one of the ballot boxes provided

General terms and conditions

  1. This contest is open only to residents of the Province of Quebec who are 18 years of age or over, except staff and management of the Service de la mise en valeur du territoire and the Service du développement économique of Ville de Montréal and all other individuals associated with the organization, production and/or funding of the Commerce Design Montréal Awards and those persons residing with them.
  2. No purchase required. No mathematical test is required. All questions on the contest ballot must be answered. Incomplete ballots will be declared null and void. Limit of one electronic entry and one detachable contest ballot from the promotional flyer per person.
  3. Gift certificates and gift cards are transferable but are not exchangeable for cash.
  4. Neither Ville de Montréal nor any person involved in the organization or funding of the Commerce Design Montréal Awards may be held responsible for any error whatsoever in the awarding of prizes or loss of contest ballots.
  5. Neither Ville de Montréal nor any person involved in the organization or funding of the Commerce Design Montréal Awards may be held responsible for any act of piracy or other form of computer failure that may delay, stop or disrupt online voting on the contest website.
  6. The decision of Ville de Montréal, which is responsible for managing the contest, is final.
  7. Under the provisions of the Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information, all personal information collected within the framework of the contest shall be used strictly to administer the contest and for statistical purposes. All personal information collected will be handled confidentially. This information may be consulted by the contest entrant and corrections made by addressing a request to the person responsible for access to documents and the protection of personal information at the City.
  8. In accordance with the Act, personal information shall only be kept for as long as necessary and used for the stated purposes of the contest. The City shall not sell or release, under any circumstances, any information or personal information to anyone whatsoever, nor release such information to any other organization.
