Revitalization of Décarie Boulevard

Urban Design Competition

In 2006, the Saint-Laurent Borough, in partnership with the Design Montréal office, held an urban design competition as part of plans to revitalize boulevard Décarie between boulevard de la Côte-Vertu and rue du Collège.

For Saint-Laurent Borough Mayor Alan DeSousa, the competition was an excellent way of making informed choices, after analyzing and comparing a number of detailed proposals.

The competition was intended to attract proposals for implementing the three ideas chosen to give boulevard Décarie a brand image.

The competition was:

  • open
  • free to enter
  • province-wide
  • held in two stages: submission of applications, followed by submission of proposals by a maximum of five finalists selected by the jury
