Plage de l'Est

Landscape Architecture Competition

With the first stage of the Plage de l’Est design competition complete, the Borough of Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles, has announced the names of the five finalist firms chosen by the preselection committee made up of urban development experts and citizens.

The competition is for the project to develop a beach on the shore of the St. Lawrence River and promote citizen reappropriation of the waterfront. The committee studied 36 rough-sketch concepts, which were submitted anonymously. The assessment criteria that allowed the finalist projects to stand out included innovation, suggested materials and forms, landscaping, environmental considerations, integration of the project with its surroundings, and accessibility.

Next Steps

The five finalist firms now go back to their drawing boards to develop their final project concepts, which they will present to the jury on Tuesday, December 10, at the Maison de la culture Pointe-aux-Trembles, 14001 Notre-Dame St. East. Citizens are invited to attend the presentations. Full details about this event and instructions on how to register will be available shortly.
