This call for projects is being issued by the Ville de Montréal’s Design Bureau, jointly with the Direction Associée – Bibliothèques (DAB). It is aimed at Montréal boroughs and public libraries interested in organizing one-time or recurring citizen awareness activities on architecture and design in Montréal’s public libraries network.
- To raise awareness among Montrealers of all ages about architecture and design in the Montréal Public Libraries Network
- To help showcase and involve Montreal designers and architects
- To energize and enrich the cultural offering and programming of libraries
- To forge ties between libraries, schools and the architecture and design community in Montréal
A maximum of $30,000 will be apportioned among the selected proposals. The purpose of the financing is to defray part of the costs associated with such a project. The maximum funding available per library is $5,000, and this amount may not represent more than 80% of the total project cost.

- Deadline for submitting a proposal: May 16, 2014
- Selection committee meeting: June 5, 2014
- Announcement of selected proposals: Week of June 9, 2014
- Deadline for completing project: May 1, 2015
- Deadline for submitting report on activity: 30 days after completion

- Talk, lecture or conference featuring a designer or architect from the borough (Q&A with the public);
- Commented architectural tours;
- Production of an audio guide;
- Screenings of films/documentaries on architecture or design;
- Workshop: build a scale model of the library;
- Scavenger hunt in the library using the building plans;
- Showcasing of collections or works (e.g., books, magazines, multimedia documents, objects);
- Production of an exhibition.
