Design ideas competition for the installation of permanent grandstands on Île Notre-Dame

Permanent grandstands to allow visitors to (re)discover the park and the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve race track from new viewpoints, year-round

Underscoring the originality of the concepts submitted, the jury awarded a special mention to the following proposal.

Collines

The jury members drew attention first of all to the quality of the presentation text, which they felt was accurate, clear and informed by the founding principles of large public parks. The idea of greening the walkway and allowing people to cross the track is especially appealing, as it offers a completely new relationship to the landscape and the site for users. This proposal resembles a manifesto or statement of intent. At this preliminary stage, the formal treatment and functional considerations remain to be specified, which limits full assessment of the potential of this proposal. The jury nonetheless decided to award it a special mention in recognition of its conceptual rigour and the quality of its theoretical framework.
