Light Therapy in the Quartier des spectacles 2015

Design Competition - Participatory Installation and Video Projections
Call for Proposals

The team eventually selected by the jury must design a unified concept for Place des Festivals showcasing Montréal in wintertime, and consisting of a participatory sound and light installation as well as video projections on the nine building façades of the Quartier des spectacles.

Purpose of the competition

For this sixth edition of Light Therapy, the Quartier des spectacles is innovating by merging the two components of the design competition. The team eventually selected by the jury must design a unified concept for Place des Festivals showcasing Montréal in wintertime, and consisting of a participatory sound and light installation as well as video projections on the nine building façades of the Quartier des spectacles.

The design competition encourages the formation of multidisciplinary teams and entries from both emerging and experienced creators.

The Place des Festivals installation must be striking both by day and by night, and enable interaction with audiences of all ages. The video projections, to be presented after dusk, must be an extension of the work presented in Place des Festivals, adding to its narrative elements.

From December 10, 2015, to January 31, 2016, Montrealers and visitors alike will be able to explore the wonders of winter in a playful, creative atmosphere.
