Landscape connection between school and library

From October 2016 to March 2017, secondary 4 students in the introduction to occupational training course at École Henri-Bourassa reflected on the connection between their school and the library of the Maison culturelle et communautaire de Montréal-Nord, built on the same block. During workshops and weekly interactive visits, Marie-Michèle Perron, who holds a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture, guided the students through the steps involved in developing a design project, from conception to presentation.

These activities heightened participants’ awareness of the natural and built environments around them and emphasized the importance of libraries in their education, with the ultimate goal being to develop feasible and dedicated landscaping solutions to connect their school to the library.

The project incorporated three school subjects: plastic arts, French, and mathematics. It was also part of Montréal-Nord’s green corridor creation program.
