Panel discussions: An art to discover

The awareness project invites users (adults) as well as library staff and management to be part of the design process for a freestanding, modular structure that can be used to close off a space or make it into a display space for books, posters, photos, etc.

Six co-design workshops were organized in November and December 2016. The woodworker-designer provided support and guidance to the group in thinking about design overall, and specifically furniture design, inspired by the following topics: design and the library of the 21st century, commented tour of the new Benny Library, definition of the concept and drafting of the specifications, preliminary design, design of a mockup, analysis and intermediate design.

Simultaneously, the designer created and has continued to host a website enabling progress on the work to be monitored, providing for exchanges with participants (forum), and extending the scope of the project to encompass a wider audience. In that vein, an exhibition of the furniture and a public conference in the spring of 2017 will provide the opportunity to review the project in its entirety and unveil the final result.
