Panel discussions: An art to discover

A group of teens took part in a series of six workshops in July and August 2016. Woodworker and space designer Hippolyte Thermac provided support and guidance in their thinking about design overall and specific consideration of furniture design.

The workshop topics were: Design (film screenings, readings, etymological and conceptual discussions), Decorative Arts at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (visit), Design and Development of Specifications, Preliminary (Graphic) Design, and Model Building Using 3D Software.

At two screenprinting workshops facilitated by textile designers Gabrielle Cousineau and Catherine Lewis, young participants learned to transfer drawings and patterns onto T-shirts and fabrics to be applied to new panels on freestanding, modular structures, to be used to close off a display, work or meeting space, or simply as decorative elements.
